Press Release: Dr. Nola Haynes on America’s Role in Global Humanitarian Justice
Washington, D.C. – 06/23/2025 – Hilltop, a civic technology startup empowering Americans to communicate directly with lawmakers, is powering Mobilize with Me: Dr. Nola Haynes – a campaign challenging inconsistent U.S. asylum practices and urging voters to demand human-centered immigration reform.
A Call for Consistency and Compassion
Dr. Nola Haynes, a national security scholar and policy advocate, highlights the U.S. government’s double standard: "If we can provide refuge for Ukrainian allies, we must extend the same protection to Afghans, Haitians, Sudanese, and others impacted by American foreign policy. Anything less undermines our moral credibility."
The campaign follows ongoing controversy surrounding the Travel Ban, which currently restricts immigration from 19 countries, including Afghanistan, despite public commitments to protect allies following the 2021 withdrawal.
With Hilltop’s flagship tool, CivIQ, voters can now quickly take action in support of H.R. 3104, the Ukrainian Adjustment Act of 2025, and in opposition to H.R. 2607, the Afrikaner Act. This effort calls out the systemic disparities in asylum policy, particularly toward Black and Brown populations displaced by conflict in which the U.S. has played a role.
From Concern to Congressional Action
Using CivIQ’s AI-enabled messaging platform, Mobilize with Me enables users to instantly send personalized, persuasive messages to their lawmakers. Whether advocating for humanitarian protections or calling out hypocrisy, constituents can now make their voices heard with clarity, speed, and impact.
"At Hilltop, we believe civic engagement should be as easy as sending a text," said Aubrey Ottenstein, Hilltop Founder. "This campaign allows every American to demand justice for those displaced by war and political instability."
